Think Mediterranean: light crisp flavors go with light crisp wines. Nothing fancy here just good elegant wines paired with good fresh food. Avoid anything heavy, too aromatic or complex that might complicate the food. Can't go wrong with a dry rose!
Conversation Starters
Gyro is pronounced YEE-roh.
The origins of the gyro, grilled meat cooked on a stick, started in modern day Turkey during the Ottoman empire. The dish spread throughout the region and evolved in Greece to include Tzatziki sauce.
The most common method of producing rosés involves a short maceration period (or the amount of time the juice is in contact with the grape skin). This is typically only 12-24 hours for most rosés, and means phenolics, or the chemicals that contribute various characteristics to a wine, have less time to influence the wine, resulting in a less stable color and fewer antioxidants.
